🔧 What it does & how to use
Pegwood is a staple consumable on the watchmaker's or clock repairer's bench, used for cleaning pivot holes, watch jewels, pinions and other tight, delicate spots where dirt and dried oil build up over time. Because it's wood rather than metal, it can be cut, angled or sharpened to a fine point and used directly against delicate components without risk of scratching or marking them.
To use: cut or sharpen the tip of the pegwood to the shape needed for the job, then gently insert or apply it to the area being cleaned — a pivot hole, jewel hole, pinion or other recess. Twist or work the point carefully to lift out dirt and dried oil, trimming back to a fresh clean tip as needed and repeating until the area is clean.
Pegwood also works well with cleaning clay: press a small dot of clay onto the tip and use it to pick up small, hard-to-reach parts, which will adhere to the clay for easy handling.
Suitable for professionals, trade users and hobbyists working on watch or clock movements and parts.
