🔧 What it does & how to use
Broaches are tapered, multi-sided cutting tools used by watchmakers and hobbyists to enlarge or clean out small holes with fine control, such as widening a hand hole to fit a movement's arbor, or truing up a hole in a plate or bridge. Because each broach is gently tapered, twisting it into a hole progressively removes tiny amounts of material, letting you sneak up on the exact fit needed.
- Select a broach: choose the smallest one that will just enter the hole to be enlarged.
- Insert and rotate: hold the workpiece steady and turn the broach clockwise, applying light, even pressure.
- Check the fit: withdraw the broach frequently and test-fit the part (hand, arbor, etc.).
- Step up gradually: move to the next size broach only as needed, rather than forcing a larger one straight in.
- Finish smoothly: a few light final turns help clean and smooth the hole once the size is right.
⚠️ Please check the size range (approx 0.60mm–0.8mm) matches the hole diameter you need to enlarge before ordering, as broaches only remove material — they can't be used to shrink an over-large hole.
