🔧 What it does & how to use
A case opener is used to separate a snap-fit watch back from the case body, most commonly for battery changes, movement servicing, or general repair work. This blade-type tool has a thin edge that's better suited to tight or stubborn cases than thicker, standard blades, and is aimed at hobbyists and watchmakers alike.
- Position the blade: find the seam between the case back and the case body, and locate the small notch or lip most snap-back watches have.
- Insert the edge: push the thin blade into the seam at that point, working it in gently rather than forcing it.
- Apply gentle leverage: twist or lever the blade slightly to start lifting the back away from the case.
- Tap if needed: for very tight cases, a light tap on the tool handle with a small hammer helps break the seal without damaging the case.
- Work around the seam: move the blade around the join a little at a time until the back lifts free.
