Capacitors do not have charge in them when supplied as unlike a battery or rechargeable battery, they do not have chemicals inside creating power, capacitors purely store generated power for short term storage and use. That is why they are ‘green’ unlike conventional batteries. Citizen capacitors are charged by solar power whilst fitted in the watch. It can take a number of days to charge, putting them into a solar light box can accelerate charging.
