This screw plate set lets you cut and re-form tiny male and female threads (taps for holes, dies for screws/pins) at the micro scale used in watch, clock and jewellery work — ideal for repairing stripped threads, making replacement screws, or fitting new pins where an off-the-shelf part won't match. Each size in the set has a matching tap and die, so you can cut a new external thread on a rod or pin, then cut the corresponding internal thread it screws into.

• Select the size: choose the tap/die pair matching the thread you need to cut or repair, from 0.7mm up to 2mm.
• External threads: use the die plate to cut or clean up the outer thread on a screw, pin or rod, turning steadily and checking the fit often.
• Internal threads: use the matching tap to cut or re-tap the corresponding hole so the two parts screw together correctly.
• Test the fit: offer the part up regularly while cutting to avoid over-threading or damaging the piece.
• Lubricate: a light cutting oil helps produce a cleaner thread and extends the life of the taps and dies.
