🔧 What it does & how to use
This set lets you cut brand-new internal and external threads at watch and clock micro scale, or restore a stripped thread that would otherwise write off a plate, bridge, case or tiny screw. The taps cut an internal thread into a drilled hole (for example a new screw hole in a plate or bridge), while the die plate cuts a matching external thread onto a rod or screw shank so the two mate correctly.
To use: select the tap or die hole matching the size you need, start it square onto the work, and turn it steadily by hand using a suitable holder or pin vice — a drop of cutting oil helps the cut run smoothly. Back the tool off every turn or two to clear swarf, then continue until the thread is fully formed. Because the sizes are so small, work slowly and check fit against the mating part as you go. Handy for both hobbyist restorers and professional watch and clock repairers who regularly need to make or salvage tiny threaded parts.
⚠️ Please check you select and test the correct size carefully — at this micro scale (0.6mm–2mm) sizes are easily confused, so try the tap or die on a scrap piece first before committing to the actual part.
