This is a compact bench tool for anyone servicing or troubleshooting quartz watches, from hobbyists to working watchmakers. It combines four separate test functions in one unit:
- Line release forces the watch hands to spin rapidly. This is one of the most useful functions on the tool: many quartz watches that have stopped running will start again once dirt, gumming or trapped particles in the gear train are cleared by this fast movement. It's often worth trying this first on a non-running quartz watch before assuming a deeper fault.
- Pulse test checks that the movement's electronic circuit board is sending out a proper pulse, helping you confirm whether the circuit itself is functioning.
- Cell test lets you check a watch battery to see if it still holds charge, so you can rule batteries in or out as the cause of a stopped watch.
- ECB circuit test gives a further check on the electronic circuit board's operation.
