This tool opens screw-type watch case backs — the type with slots or notches cut into the back cover rather than a snap-fit edge. It's suited to both hobbyists doing occasional battery changes and repairers working on a range of watches, since the jaws adjust to fit different case sizes and the pin kit covers most slot patterns found on screw backs.

• Select a pin: Choose the pin from the kit that matches the width and shape of the slots on the case back.
• Fit the pins: Insert the chosen pins into the tool's three jaws.
• Adjust the jaws: Open or close the three adjustable jaws so the pins line up squarely with the slots on the case back.
• Engage the case: Press the pins firmly into the slots, keeping the tool square to the case back.
• Turn to open: Twist the tool (usually anti-clockwise) to unscrew the case back and lift it free.
• Reassemble: Reverse the action to screw the case back down again once work is finished.
