🔧 What it does & how to use
A pin vice is a small hand tool for holding fine, round items steady so they can be drilled, filed, turned or otherwise worked on without slipping. This French-style version has a wood handle for a comfortable grip and jaws that close right down, letting it hold extremely fine items down to around 0.8mm — smaller than many standard pin vices can manage.
To use it, unscrew the knurled collet at the tip to open the jaws, insert the drill bit, pin, wire or small part, then tighten the collet back down until it grips firmly. Hold the wood handle to steady the piece while you drill, file, turn or otherwise work on it by hand. It's a handy bench tool for watchmakers, clockmakers, jewellers and hobbyists working with very small tools and parts.
