🔧 What it does & how to use
A flat, heat-stable work surface for jewellery soldering, annealing and light brazing — suits hobbyist jewellers through to professional silversmiths and goldsmiths. The reflective calcium silicate surface bounces flame heat back into the join, helping solder flow faster and with less gas, while T-pins can be pushed straight into the board to hold rings, chains and findings steady as you work.
-
Set up: Place the board on a heatproof bench surface or metal soldering tray.
-
Position the work: Lay your piece on the board and pin or weight it in place if needed.
-
Flux and solder: Apply flux and position your solder at the join.
-
Heat: Work with a jeweller's torch — the board reflects heat back into the piece to help solder flow.
-
Cool down: Let the board cool naturally afterwards; never quench it with water, as thermal shock can crack it.
Suited to silver, gold, brass, copper and gilding metal soldering, chain repair, ring and bezel joins, annealing sheet and wire, heavier brazing work, and casting or lost-wax setup — anywhere a flat, non-flammable, heat-stable surface is needed for torch work.
