🔧 What it does & how to use
This is a traditional fixed-frame piercing saw, the everyday cutting tool of the jewellery bench. It's used for cutting shapes, patterns and openings in sheet metal, wire and other soft materials during jewellery making, model making and general metal hobby craft.
The saw blade is held in place by two screw-fix clamps, one at each end of the frame. To fit a blade, loosen the top and bottom screws, slot the blade in with its teeth facing outward and downward (away from the handle), then tighten both screws so the blade sits taut and rings when plucked — a well-tensioned blade cuts cleanly and is far less likely to snap.
The hardwood handle gives a secure, comfortable grip, letting you guide the saw with light, steady strokes rather than force — piercing saws rely on a smooth up-and-down motion rather than pressure to cut. With 144 blades across 6 grades included, you're set up to work with a range of metal thicknesses straight out of the box, whether you're a hobbyist starting out or a jeweller stocking up on consumables.
