🔧 What it does & how to use
A beading tool is used by jewellers and stone-setters to form and finish the small metal beads that are raised from the surrounding metal to hold a stone in place, and to burnish or smooth beads and settings during bench work. Each of the 16 numbered tips gives a different size of cup or point, letting the setter match the tool to the size of bead or stone being worked. The set suits jewellery makers, stone-setters and hobbyists carrying out bead setting, stone setting, and general precision bench work.
-
Select the tip: choose the numbered tool that matches the size of bead or stone you're working with, using the numbered stand as a quick reference.
-
Fit the handle: insert the chosen tip into the wooden handle so it's held securely for controlled use.
-
Raise the bead: with the stone in position, use a graver or similar tool to raise a small amount of metal, then work the beading tool over it to shape and round the bead over the stone.
-
Burnish and finish: use the rounded cup of the tip to smooth and polish the formed bead so it sits neatly against the stone.
-
Change size as needed: swap to a different numbered tip for larger or smaller beads, returning each tool to its place on the stand after use.
-
Store on the stand: keep the full set organised and to hand on the numbered wooden stand between jobs.
