🔧 What it does & how to use
Emery sticks are abrasive hand tools used to shape, smooth, deburr and polish small metal components — a bench staple for watchmakers, jewellers, model makers and metalworking hobbyists. Each stick is marked with its grit so you can work through the set from coarse to fine.
- Choose your starting grit: use a rough stick (lower numbers) first if you need to remove material or reshape an edge.
- Work the surface: draw the stick along the metal in one direction with light, even pressure.
- Step through the grits: once the scratch pattern looks even, move on to the next finer stick and repeat.
- Finish fine: the finest sticks (5/0, 6/0) leave a smooth, near-polished surface ready for final buffing.
