🔧 What it does & how to use
This set is used for closing round bezels around a stone or pressing metal prongs over a stone during setting. The concave, hardened and tempered faces seat over the stone or bezel edge without slipping, letting the setter apply even, controlled pressure. It suits both hobbyist jewellery makers and working jewellers doing stone setting by hand.
- Prepare the setting: Insert the stone into the bezel or prong setting so it sits level and secure.
- Select the punch: Choose the punch size from the set that matches the diameter of the bezel or stone.
- Fit the handle: Seat the punch into the hard wood handle supplied with the set.
- Press or tap: Apply steady pressure (or light tapping with a mallet) to press the bezel or prongs down over the stone.
- Check the hold: Work around the setting evenly until the stone is firmly secured, then inspect for a clean, even finish.
