🔧 What it does & how to use
A bench pin gives jewellery makers and hobbyists a solid support to rest work against while sawing, filing or drilling, keeping both hands free to control the tool rather than the workpiece. The V-slot cut into the pin cradles metal or wire at an angle so a saw blade or file can be worked cleanly without the piece slipping.
- Fit the clamp: position the bench pin's clamp over the edge of your bench or table (up to 55mm thick) and tighten to hold it firmly in place.
- Rest the work: lay your metal, wire or sheet across the V-slot so it's supported close to the pin.
- Saw or file: work down into the V-slot, using it to steady the piece and guide your blade or file along the cut line.
- Drilling: use the pin's edge to brace small components steady while drilling.
- Reposition as needed: unclamp and move the pin along the bench edge to find the most comfortable working angle.
