🔧 What it does & how to use
These coarse needle files are built for fast material removal on jewellery wax, resin and other soft materials, making them a staple for wax carving ahead of lost-wax casting, as well as model making and general craft work. The wide-tooth coarse cut clears shavings quickly and resists clogging, which matters on soft materials that gum up finer files. The set's six shapes — triangle, round, half round, barrette, knife/blade edge and square — cover flat faces, curves, corners, grooves and fine detail work, so most carving jobs can be handled without swapping tools.
- Secure the workpiece: Hold or clamp the wax, resin or model piece steady before filing.
- Choose the right profile: Match the file shape to the contour — round for concave curves, triangle or square for corners and edges, half round for mixed surfaces, barrette for flat parallel faces, knife edge for tight slots and fine lines.
- File in one direction: Draw the file across the material in a single stroke direction rather than sawing back and forth, to keep the cut clean and controlled.
- Work from rough to fine: Use the coarse cut to remove bulk material first, then switch profiles as the shape develops.
- Clear the teeth: Tap or brush out any built-up wax or resin regularly to stop the file clogging and losing its cut.
