🔧 What it does & how to use

A doming (dapping) block is a bench tool used to form flat sheet metal into smooth, rounded domes — essential for making bezels, rivets, buttons, jewellery findings and other curved components. It's used alongside a set of dapping punches and a mallet or hammer, and suits both hobbyist jewellers and professional workshops.

• Choose a cavity: select the indentation closest to the finished dome size you need.
• Position the metal: place your cut metal disc or sheet centrally over the chosen cavity.
• Set the punch: place a matching dapping punch against the metal, tip down into the cavity.
• Strike to shape: tap the punch firmly with a hammer or mallet, working evenly to press the metal into the block.
• Refine the dome: for deeper or more precise domes, move the piece through progressively smaller cavities, repeating the strike step.
