🔧 What it does & how to use
A suspension spring supports the pendulum from the movement's back cock and lets it swing freely in beat; it's the single most common failure point that stops a pendulum clock dead, especially after being moved with the pendulum left attached. Fitting a new spring is a simple bench job for a hobbyist or repairer.
-
Remove: take off the pendulum and lift out the broken spring
-
Unhook: release the old spring from the back cock
-
Fit: pin the upper block into the back cock, and pass the crutch pin through the lower block's hole
-
Reattach: hang the pendulum back on, level the clock and set it in beat
⚠️ Please check the spring gauge before ordering — 0.05mm suits light wood-stick or lightweight lead pendulums only, and is not suitable for heavier lead pendulums (typically 0.08mm, 0.10mm or thicker). Measure your original spring if unsure.
