WHY MICROFIBRE (NOT A ROUGE CLOTH)?
Some polishing cloths have an inner layer impregnated with abrasive polishing compound (rouge or Sunshine-style). Those are effective for heavy tarnish on silver but are UNSAFE for faceted gemstones — the abrasive will scratch the facets over time. A plain microfibre cloth cleans through the action of the cloth weave alone, not chemicals. That makes it the safer choice for:
- Emerald, opal, pearl, turquoise and other soft/sensitive stones
- Faceted and crystal-polished gems where facet sharpness matters
- Jewellery with mixed materials (stone set into metal)
- Delicate antique and vintage pieces
HOW TO USE
1. For light tarnish on silver/gold: rub firmly in small circles until the metal shines
2. For gemstones: gentle circular strokes — the microfibre lifts oils without pressure
3. For watches: let the cloth do the work, not your hand — you'll avoid micro-scratches
4. When one side looks grubby, flip and use the fresh side
