🔧 What it does & how to use
A swage block and punch set is used to dap, dome and shape sheet metal for rings, bezels, spoon bowls and other jewellery findings. The wooden block holds a range of cavity sizes and shapes; the punches are struck with a hammer or mallet to press metal into the block, forming curves, domes, creases and angled bends. Suitable for hobbyist and professional jewellers, silversmiths and metal crafters.

Choose a cavity: pick the round cavity in the block closest to the diameter of dome you want.

Position the blank: lay a cut metal disc or sheet over the chosen cavity.

Select the punch: match a round punch to the cavity size for doming.

Strike to form: tap the punch with a hammer, working the metal down into the cavity to shape the dome.

Rectangular work: use the rectangular punches over the block's straight channels to crease or bend flat sections of sheet.

Angled edges: use the 45° punch where a bevelled or angled fold is needed.

Progress gradually: move to progressively smaller or deeper cavities/punches for a fuller dome, annealing the metal between stages if it becomes stiff.
