Pegwood is a soft, absorbent wood stick used by watchmakers and clockmakers to clean and dry jewel holes, pivot holes and oil sinks without scratching the metal or jewel. It's a bench essential for both hobbyists and professional repairers when servicing movements.

• Shape the tip: whittle or sharpen one end to a fine point using a sharp blade or fine file.
• Clean pivot holes: insert the pointed tip into the jewel or pivot hole and gently twist to lift out old oil and debris.
• Dry after cleaning fluid: use a fresh point to absorb residual cleaning solution before re-oiling.
• Apply light pressure: use the wood tip to hold or nudge small parts into place without marking them.
• Renew the point: re-sharpen or snap off the used tip as it wears, working through the pack as needed.
