🔧 What it does & how to use
Red rouge is a traditional polishing compound used by jewellers and craftspeople to cut light scratches and bring gold and silver up to a deep mirror shine. It's suited to jewellery such as rings, chains, bangles and bracelets, and works equally well by hand on larger silver pieces like candlesticks, trays, teapots and trophies. The powder can be applied with a soft-bristle handle brush, felt buff stick, leather buff stick, a Selvyt cloth, or a loose-fold cotton or leather mop.
-
Wet the applicator: lightly dampen your brush, buff stick, cloth or mop.
-
Load with rouge: touch the damp applicator into the powder to impregnate it.
-
Buff the item: work the rouge over the surface using even, steady pressure.
-
Check the finish: continue buffing until the piece returns to a bright mirror finish.
-
Using a mop: dampen the mop, apply the rouge powder, then polish for a traditional craftsman finish.
