🔧 What it does & how to use

A vernier gauge lets you take precise outside measurements of small components — cases, movements, dials, hands and other parts — making it a handy bench tool for watchmakers, clockmakers and hobbyist repairers who need to check sizing before ordering or fitting a replacement part.

• Open the jaws: slide the moving jaw so the fixed and moving jaws sit either side of the part.
• Close onto the part: gently bring the jaws together until they just grip the item without forcing it.
• Read the scale: take the measurement from the main scale, using the sliding vernier scale for a finer reading.
• Record and compare: note the outside dimension and compare it against the replacement part you need.
