🔧 What it does & how to use

This solution is designed for watchmakers and keen hobbyists working on movement repairs. A gummed-up or oil-contaminated hairspring is a common cause of a watch stopping or running erratically, and cleaning it on its own is often enough to get an old or vintage movement ticking again without a full service.

• Remove the balance: take the balance complete with hairspring out of the movement and place it on a clean, static-free surface.
• Dip the hairspring: submerge just the hairspring briefly in the solution to loosen old oil, grease and debris.
• Agitate gently: if needed, use a fine brush or peg wood to help lift stubborn residue while the coil is wet.
• Rinse and dry: lift out, allow the solution to evaporate fully, and check the hairspring is clean and moving freely before refitting.
• Refit the balance: once dry, reassemble the balance into the movement and test timekeeping.
