🔧 What it does & how to use
A sprue base forms the foundation of a wax tree, giving the wax patterns a stable, sealed platform before the flask is filled with investment. It's used by jewellers and casters for both centrifugal and vacuum lost wax casting.
-
Attach the sprue former: Fix the central sprue pin or former upright in the middle of the rubber base.
-
Build the tree: Attach wax patterns to the sprue former to build up your casting tree.
-
Fit the flask: Press the appropriate flask (normal or perforated) down over the base to form a sealed unit.
-
Invest: Pour or vacuum-fill the flask with investment powder around the wax tree.
-
Cast: Once set and burnt out, cast using your centrifugal or vacuum casting process as normal.
⚠️ Please check you select the correct size (2", 3" or 4") to match the diameter of your casting flask before ordering, as only one size is supplied per order.
