🔧 What it does & how to use

Binding wire is a bench essential for jewellers and watchmakers, used to clamp components together so they stay aligned while soldering, and also handy for stringing small parts together for cleaning in a solution or ultrasonic tank.

• Cut a length: unwind the amount of wire needed from the spool for the size of the piece being joined.
• Wrap the joint: bind the wire tightly around the parts to be soldered, holding them firmly in the correct position.
• Secure the ends: twist the wire ends together with pliers to lock the tension before heating.
• Apply flux and solder: solder the joint as normal; the iron wire withstands the heat without melting or bonding to the solder.
• Remove after soldering: once cooled, untwist and unwind the wire to release the finished piece.
• For cleaning: thread several small parts onto a length of wire so they can be dipped or ultrasonically cleaned together without being lost.
