🔧 What it does & how to use
A piercing saw is the jeweller's and hobbyist's tool for cutting fine, intricate shapes in metal, wood and other workshop materials. The Swiss-style frame is adjustable, so it can be set to suit different blade lengths and keep the fine blades properly tensioned as they wear or break. Suitable for both hobby jewellery makers and professional workshops.

Choose a blade: pick a grade from the holder to suit the material and thickness – finer grades (higher numbers like 3/0, 4/0) for thin sheet and detailed work, coarser grades (1, 2) for thicker stock.

Fit the blade: loosen the frame's thumbscrews, insert the blade with teeth facing outward and downward, and tighten one end.

Adjust the frame: slide the frame to the blade's length before securing the second end, so the blade sits straight.

Tension the blade: tighten both thumbscrews so the blade is taut and gives a clean 'ping' when plucked – this prevents snapping and wandering cuts.

Saw: hold the frame upright and use light, even up-and-down strokes, letting the blade do the cutting rather than forcing it.

Replace as needed: piercing blades are consumable and snap easily – swap in a fresh one from the holder using the same steps above.
