Material: Rawhide leather
🔧 What it does & how to use
A rawhide mallet is a soft-faced hammer used by jewellers and metalworkers for shaping, forming and planishing metal without leaving hammer marks, dents or scratches. The dense leather face absorbs impact and spreads the force evenly, making it ideal for use on rings, bangles, wire and sheet metal over a mandrel, anvil or bench block. Simply strike the workpiece with even, controlled blows — the soft rawhide grips and cushions the metal rather than marking it, so you can shape and true up pieces safely. Popular with both hobbyist and professional jewellers for bench work, ring sizing and general metal forming.
⚠️ Please check you select the correct head size (1.5", 1.75" or 2") for your intended use before ordering, as only one size is supplied per order.
