🔧 What it does & how to use

A prong lifter is a jeweller's hand tool used to raise and open the claws (prongs) that hold a gemstone in its setting, allowing the stone to be safely removed for cleaning, repair, replacement, resizing, or re-setting.

To use it, slide the tapered tip of the lifter under the edge of a prong, close to the stone, then gently lever the handle to push the claw upward and outward, away from the stone. Work around the setting one prong at a time until enough claws are lifted for the stone to lift free. The rubber handle gives a firm, controlled grip, which helps keep pressure steady and even, reducing the risk of slipping or over-bending a claw while you work.
