🔧 Curved tip with square shank for hand-striking
✅ Suitable for rings, jewellery and other precious metal items
🔧 What it does & how to use
Each punch is a hand-striking stamp used to mark the karat or fineness of precious metal onto rings, jewellery and other items — for example stamping 18K into a gold ring shank, or 925 into a silver piece to show sterling standard. The square shank sits securely in the hand or a pin vice, while the curved tip is designed to sit flush against curved surfaces such as ring shanks for a clean, legible strike.
To use, position the curved tip firmly against the metal at the point you want the mark, hold the punch steady and upright, then strike the top of the shank sharply with a hammer to drive the stamp into the metal. A single firm strike usually gives the cleanest result; test on a scrap piece of similar metal first to get a feel for the pressure needed. These punches are useful for jewellers, silversmiths and hobbyist metalworkers who need to apply karat or fineness marks as part of finishing or repair work.
