This is a graver sharpening jig based on the traditional Crocker design used by engravers, jewellers and watchmakers to put a sharp, consistent point or edge back onto a hand graver. The graver is clamped into the holder, which presents it to the oilstone at a fixed, repeatable angle — this takes the guesswork out of freehand sharpening and stops you rounding off or unevenly wearing the cutting face. To use it, fit the graver into the holder, rest the holder flat on your oilstone, and draw it back and forth (or in a figure-of-eight) until a fresh, keen edge is restored, then flip and repeat on the opposite face as needed. It's suited to anyone doing regular engraving or graver work who wants a consistent edge without relying on a steady hand alone.
