🔧 What it does & how to use
A buff rake is a bench tool for keeping buffing and polishing mops clean and running true. Over time, buffing compound dries and cakes onto the wheel edge, making it lumpy, unbalanced and less effective at polishing. The rake's metal serrated edge, mounted on a wooden handle, is held against the spinning wheel to scrape this build-up away and restore an even, true surface — useful for both watch/jewellery polishing mops and general workshop buffing wheels.

Mount the wheel: fit the buffing wheel to your motor or lathe and start it spinning.

Position the rake: hold the wooden handle firmly and bring the serrated edge to the outer face of the rotating wheel.

Apply light pressure: press gently and steadily into the wheel — avoid heavy force, which can gouge or tear the material.

Work around the wheel: keep the rake in contact as the wheel turns to strip off dried compound and level any lumps.

Check balance: stop periodically to inspect the wheel; repeat until the surface runs true and compound-free.
