🔧 What it does & how to use
A knotting needle is a fine, rigid tool used in bead stringing and jewellery making to tie neat, tight knots between beads on silk or nylon cord — the technique traditionally used for pearl and gemstone necklaces. The slim shaft slips through the loop of a half-hitch knot before it's fully tightened, letting you guide and seat the knot precisely against the bead so it sits snug rather than loose or crooked. This is especially useful when knotting between each bead to protect them from rubbing and to stop the whole strand unravelling if the thread breaks. Suitable for both hobbyist bead workers and those doing more regular jewellery repair or restringing, it's a simple tool to master with a little practice: form the knot loosely around the needle, slide it down to the bead, then withdraw the needle while holding the thread taut to finish the knot in place.
