A broach is a tapered, pointed tool used to open up, smooth or true a round hole in metal — essential for clockmakers, watchmakers and jewellers when fitting pivots, pins, bushes or jump rings. Simply insert the tip into the hole and rotate the handle, easing the broach further in as the hole enlarges; the taper lets you take the opening to an exact size in small, controlled increments rather than drilling. This set covers a wide range of hole sizes from 2.4mm through to 6.2mm, so you can step up gradually for a clean, round finish. Wipe off the protective oil film before first use, and keep each broach in its sleeve slot to protect the points when not in use.
