🔧 What it does & how to use

Broaches are tapered cutting tools used by clockmakers and watchmakers to enlarge, smooth or reshape small round holes, such as pivot holes in plates, bushes and other components. Each broach in the set is a different diameter, letting you step up gradually until the hole is the exact size needed.

• Wipe clean: remove the protective oil film from the broach before first use.
• Select size: choose the broach nearest to, but smaller than, the finished hole size required.
• Insert and turn: place the tapered tip into the hole and rotate gently, applying light pressure.
• Step up gradually: work through progressively larger broaches until the hole reaches the desired diameter.
• Check fit regularly: test the fit of the pivot or bush frequently to avoid removing too much material.
