🔧 What it does & how to use
Stainless steel round ball media is used in a rotary or vibratory tumbler to burnish precious metal jewellery, findings and small parts to a smooth, bright, mirror-like finish. As the balls tumble against the workpieces they compact and polish the surface rather than cutting it, leaving metal work-hardened, rust-free and corrosion-resistant. It's a standard finishing step for jewellers and hobbyists after soldering, forming or polishing.
-
Load the barrel: add your jewellery or metal pieces along with the 3mm ball media.
-
Add liquid: fill with water and a small amount of burnishing soap or compound.
-
Run the tumbler: switch on and let it run for the recommended time (typically 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on the finish needed).
-
Drain and rinse: pour off the liquid, rinse the pieces and media, and separate the two.
-
Dry the media: allow the steel shot to dry fully before storing, to prevent rust.
⚠️ Please check: this steel shot is intended for solid metal jewellery and findings — it's not suitable for tumbling with delicate gemstones, pearls or fragile settings, as impact can cause damage.
