🔧 What it does & how to use

A melting crucible is used to hold and heat metal (such as gold, silver or other scrap metal) until it turns liquid, ready to be poured into a mould for casting. This graphite crucible is suited to hobbyist and small workshop casting where temperatures up to 3000°C may be reached, and its 75mm top opening is sized to take a pour easily and to be gripped with crucible tongs.

• Preheat: Warm the crucible gently before use to avoid thermal shock cracking the graphite.
• Load metal: Place your gold, silver or scrap metal into the crucible, keeping within the 2kg capacity.
• Heat: Apply heat (furnace or torch) until the metal fully melts.
• Lift and pour: Using crucible tongs, lift the crucible by the top rim and pour the molten metal into your mould.
• Cool and store: Allow the crucible to cool fully before handling or storing, to prevent cracking.
