🔧 What it does & how to use

A cast iron ingot mould is used to cast molten silver or gold into a solid bar shape, ready for stamping, weighing or further working. It's a workshop staple for jewellers, refiners and hobbyist metal casters who need a reliable, reusable mould that can take repeated pours of molten precious metal.

• Prepare the mould: preheat gently and coat the cavity with a release agent (such as soot from a flame or a proprietary mould wash) to stop the poured metal sticking.
• Melt your metal: melt the silver or gold in a crucible to a fully liquid state using a suitable furnace or torch.
• Pour: pour the molten metal steadily into the mould cavity in one continuous motion to avoid cold shuts or air pockets.
• Cool: allow the ingot to cool and fully solidify in the mould before handling.
• Release: once cool, tap or lever the mould apart to remove the finished bar.
