🔧 What it does & how to use
This star-shaped tester is designed for use alongside gold testing solutions and a testing stone, letting jewellers, pawnbrokers and hobbyist testers confirm the karat purity of an unknown gold item by direct comparison against genuine reference points.
-
Make a test scratch: rub the unknown gold item firmly across the testing stone to leave a visible streak.
-
Add reference marks: scratch one or more of the star's genuine karat points (10K, 14K, 18K, 20K, 22K or 24K) onto the stone next to it.
-
Apply testing acid: place a drop of the appropriate karat testing solution onto each mark.
-
Compare the reaction: the reference mark that reacts the same way as the unknown mark indicates its closest karat purity.
⚠️ Please check — this listing is for the gold testing star (and bundled gold tester); testing acid solutions and a separate testing stone, if not already owned, will be needed to carry out a test.
