🔧 What it does & how to use

Mainspring clamps hold a clock mainspring safely coiled while it's out of the barrel, preventing it from uncoiling suddenly and causing injury or damage. They're an essential bench aid for clockmakers and hobbyists carrying out mainspring removal, cleaning, lubrication or replacement.

• Choose the size: select the clamp whose diameter matches the coiled mainspring you're working on.
• Fit the clamp: slip it over the mainspring while it is still coiled, before removing it from the barrel.
• Secure it: tighten the clamp so the spring stays fully coiled and cannot spring open.
• Work safely: with the spring clamped, clean, inspect or lubricate it, or transport it, without risk of it unwinding.
• Refit the spring: position the clamped spring into the barrel, then release the clamp gradually to let it seat correctly.

⚠️ Please check you select the clamp size closest to your mainspring's coiled diameter — an incorrectly sized clamp may not hold the spring securely, and a released mainspring carries considerable force.
