🔧 What it does & how to use
This drawplate is designed for reducing the thickness of soft chain and woven chain, and is particularly recommended for Viking knit and other hand-woven chains. The chain is pulled through consecutively smaller holes to draw it down to a neater, more even diameter — a technique used by jewellery makers finishing woven or braided chainwork.
- Secure the plate: Clamp the drawplate firmly in a bench vice.
- Choose a starting hole: Feed the chain end through the largest hole it comfortably passes through.
- Draw through: Pull the chain steadily and evenly through the hole.
- Step down: Move to the next smaller hole and repeat.
- Repeat as needed: Continue working down through the 12 holes until the chain reaches the thickness and finish you want.
