🔧 What it does & how to use
Draw tongs are used alongside a drawplate to reduce and shape wire for jewellery-making and metalworking. The serrated jaws clamp firmly onto the wire end so it can be pulled through progressively smaller holes in the drawplate, drawing it down to a thinner, uniform gauge or into a different profile (round, square, half-round, etc., depending on the drawplate used).

Feed the wire: Push the tapered end of the wire through the chosen hole in the drawplate, from the back to the front.

Grip the wire: Clamp the protruding wire end firmly in the serrated jaws of the draw tongs.

Secure the ring: Use the holding ring to keep a strong, steady grip while pulling.

Draw through: Pull the tongs firmly and steadily away from the drawplate, drawing the wire through the hole in one smooth motion.
