🔧 What it does & how to use
A dapping (doming) block is used to form flat sheet metal into curved, teardrop-shaped domes for jewellery components such as pendants, earrings, charms and decorative elements. The wooden body is gentler on softer metals than a steel block, reducing marking, and the graduated cavities let you build up a dome in stages or match a specific finished size. It's suited to both hobbyist and professional jewellers working with thin gauge sheet.

Choose a cavity: Pick the teardrop hole closest to your desired finished dome size.

Position the metal: Lay your cut sheet metal blank over the chosen cavity.

Select a punch: Use a dapping punch (sold separately) shaped to match the cavity.

Form the dome: Strike the punch with a mallet to press the metal into the wooden cavity, shaping it into a teardrop dome.

Refine gradually: Move the piece through progressively smaller or larger cavities as needed to deepen or adjust the curve.

Finish: Remove the formed piece and smooth or polish as required for your project.
