🔧 What it does & how to use
A dapping (doming) block is used by jewellers, silversmiths and craft hobbyists to form flat metal discs into smooth, domed or shaped forms — here, into pretty flower-petal profiles. The wooden body gives a softer, more forgiving surface than steel blocks, making it well suited to thinner or softer metals such as copper, brass, silver and aluminium, and reducing marking on the workpiece.

Choose your cavity: pick the flower-shaped hollow that matches the size of dome you want to create — 76mm, 62mm, 51mm or 38mm.

Position the blank: place your cut metal disc or sheet centrally over the chosen cavity.

Select a punch: use a dapping punch of matching or slightly smaller diameter than the cavity.

Form the shape: tap the punch gently and evenly with a mallet, working from the centre outward, gradually pressing the metal down into the cavity.

Check progress: lift the metal periodically to check the dome depth, continuing to tap until the desired shape is achieved.

Repeat as needed: flip the block to access the other set of cavities for a different size or a fresh working face.
