A burnisher compresses and smooths a metal surface by friction rather than cutting it away, producing a bright, polished finish while also work-hardening the surface. The curved blade makes it easier to reach into settings, bezels and other curved or recessed areas that a flat burnisher can't access. It's a standard bench tool for jewellery makers, and also useful to watch and clock repairers for tidying cases, settings and edges.
