🔧 What it does & how to use
This is a butterfly-type case opener used to remove screw-on watch case backs for battery changes, movement servicing or repairs. It's a simple, low-cost bench tool suited to hobbyists and repairers alike, gripping the case back by its notches or knurled edge and turning it free without marking the case.
-
Set the jaws: turn the adjustment screw to open the two jaws to match the diameter of the case back, up to a maximum of 50mm.
-
Locate the jaws: position the jaws over opposite sides of the case back, engaging any notches or the knurled rim.
-
Tighten: wind the adjustment screw further to clamp the jaws firmly onto the case back.
-
Turn: hold the watch steady and rotate the tool anticlockwise to unscrew the back.
-
Remove: once loosened, lift the jaws away and unscrew the case back fully by hand.
⚠️ Please check that your case back diameter and notch/knurl spacing fall within the tool's 50mm jaw opening, and that it is a screw-on type back — this tool is not suited to snap-on or press-fit case backs.
