🔧 What it does & how to use
Finger cots create a barrier between skin and surface, stopping fingerprints, skin oils and tarnish from transferring onto polished metal, coins, stamps, dials, movements and other delicate work. They're used across jewellery and silversmithing, watch repair, numismatics and philately, antique restoration, and any bench work where clean handling matters. The soft cotton knit is breathable and comfortable for long sessions, unlike latex or nitrile finger cots, and the closer weave sheds less lint than bandage-style types.
-
Fit: roll a cot fully onto the finger — the stretchy knit adapts to width and covers the whole digit, not just the tip
-
Handle: use covered fingers only for touching the item's visible or polished surfaces
-
Work in pairs of sets: keep a clean pile for final handling and a separate working pile for polishing, where some residue is expected
-
After use: either discard as disposable, or hand-wash in warm soapy water and air-dry for reuse — do not tumble dry, as this damages the knit
