🔧 What it does & how to use
A tap wrench holder grips a small tap securely so it can be turned by hand to cut an internal thread. It's a handbench essential for engineers, model-makers, watch and clock repairers, and jewellery makers who need to cut fine threads in small parts where a full-size tap wrench would be too bulky or heavy-handed.
- Select the tap: choose a tap with a shank diameter within the 1/4" capacity of this holder.
- Insert and secure: fit the tap into the holder's jaws and tighten so it's held square and doesn't slip.
- Start the thread: position the tap into the pre-drilled and lubricated hole, keeping it upright and square to the workpiece.
- Cut the thread: turn the holder steadily to advance the tap, backing off a quarter turn every so often to clear swarf and avoid breaking the tap.
- Finish: once the thread depth is reached, reverse the holder to withdraw the tap cleanly.
⚠️ Please check that your tap's shank diameter falls within the 1/4" capacity before use, as larger taps won't seat securely in this holder.
